Avocado Sandwich – or: writer's block blogging

Ok, I probably have confused one or two of you with the title of this post. Today the entry isn't elegant and there isn't a matching story that somehow fits the recipe.

My question therefore: Do you consider this important?

I love blogging: I love cooking and have a lot of fun baking, photography has become one of my favorite hobbies and writing I do actually really like, as well.

Because time and again, I unfortunately find myself in the situation to sit before the blank screen and suddenly it is right there: the writer's block.
I often ask myself for several hours: “How do I start?” Speaking I have to start no problem, since it is more difficult to stop me in my fluency 😉 In writing, however, I come from time to time in such an uncomfortable position.

Are you familiar with that? If not, then I envy you a quite a bit. For there is nothing more frustrating than having a great recipe with great pictures on hand and not knowing where to begin.

Ok” I think to myself, “first of all, type out the recipe“. I do so dutifully, reformat the text and take care of other technical details. And then I face the same problem once again “How do I start now? What would my readers care about?
I begin to write, but delete the text shortly thereafter because I just am not happy with it. The whole issue, on a bad day, is repeated several times until I get frustrated flip my laptop shut and occupy myself with something else. “Distraction is good“. But unfortunately it does not always help, because now and then you have cooked or baked “merely” something delicious, have beautiful pictures, but not a story to enclose it.

What do I do then? The images remain on the computer's hard disk one provides its readers with another recipe instead, where you know immediately what you want to write about. The original treat then is sidelined forever, though it's taste may very well keep up with the others.

That was exactly the case with this avocado sandwich. I have prepared this ages ago, loved the taste, my photo were also presentable, but did not know what I should write about this being worth reading.
But I would not deny you this great recipe any longer:

Avocado Sandwich
Total time

Avocado Sandwich

Ingredients: (For 4 pieces)

  • 8 large slices of toast
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 12 slices of bacon
  • 4-6 cocktail tomatoes
  • 4 slices of cheese, according to taste
  • Salt and pepper

  1. Pit the avocado, detach the flesh, as possible in the whole, off the skin and then cut into thin slices.
  2. Wash the cherry tomatoes and cut them into slices, as well.
  3. Brown the bacon in a frying pan and drain on kitchen paper.
  4. The slices of bread can you either toast – or how to do in my case briefly on a grill pan – or use cold.
  5. Now garnish the sandwiches with cheese, avocado, tomato and 3 slices of bacon each. Season your sandwiches finally with salt and pepper – most directly onto the avocado and let it taste you 🙂

There was no great beginning, you've got to now even with this conclusion settle 😉

Bon appétit!
